Dog Training in Greenacres

A family city inland from the coast, where most dog problems happen at home and most good walks happen on county park paths.

Family life, neighborhood streets and long park paths

Greenacres is a city of about 44,000 people (2020 census) in east-central Palm Beach County, east of Wellington. It was incorporated as Greenacres City in 1926 and has been simply Greenacres since 1990. There is no beach here, so dog life is neighborhood streets, backyards and parks.

The city code asks for a dog to be on a leash and under the control of its handler on public streets, sidewalks and other public places, and for every dog to carry the county license. Palm Beach County requires a current rabies vaccine and license tag for dogs four months and older.

Where the problems usually start

In a family city the hard moments tend to be at home: the door that opens for a delivery, a dog that jumps on guests, barking at the window, a puppy that has never learned to settle. These are location-specific problems, which is why many Greenacres families do best with lessons taught at their own address.

Where to walk

Okeeheelee Park, a large county park on Forest Hill Boulevard near Greenacres, has eight miles of walking paths, and the county allows dogs in most county parks on a leash no longer than six feet. Its dog park, Pooch Pines, is at 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard. It closes Wednesdays from noon to 3 pm, and puppies under four months are not allowed in county dog parks.

Programs

Most Greenacres families choose in-home lessons: four lessons at your address for $850, or eight for $1,400. Puppy owners usually begin with a puppy consultation at $100. The two-week board and train is $2,900.

Results vary by dog. Major behavioral issues such as dog or human aggression cannot be guaranteed to be eliminated — our programs give you control and a clear plan to manage them.
