Palm Beach Gardens
A city of roughly 59,000 where dogs are expected to behave in shopping and dining districts. Public-access manners do most of the work here.
Jupiter
Home to a 2.5-mile off-leash dog beach. The best reason in the county to own a dog with a genuinely reliable recall.
Palm Beach
Narrow sidewalks, close quarters and the Intracoastal on one side. Quiet control beats flashy control every time.
Wellington
Horse country during the Winter Equestrian Festival. Dogs here need to be genuinely neutral around livestock and trailers.
North Palm Beach
Waterfront living, docks and golf. Boat manners and "off" around fishing gear come up more here than anywhere else.
Tequesta
A small, quiet village of around 6,000 — which makes it a genuinely good environment for rehabilitating a reactive dog.
Juno Beach
One of the densest sea turtle nesting areas in the world. Leash discipline here is not etiquette, it is conservation.
Singer Island
Condo living, shared elevators and lobbies, and neighbours on the other side of a balcony wall. Manners are a housing requirement.
Royal Palm Beach
Family suburbia with yards and school runs. Door manners and greeting manners are the programs that change daily life.
Loxahatchee Groves
Acreage, open land and livestock. Recall over distance is not a luxury out here — it is the whole safety plan.
What the county expects of a dog, anywhere in it
Wherever you live in Palm Beach County, the same public standard applies. At county dog parks, dogs must be leashed entering and leaving and kept within six feet of the handler, there is a limit of two dogs per person, puppies under four months are not admitted, and dogs must be removed at the first sign of aggression. Dangerous dogs as defined in the county's Animal Care and Control Ordinance are prohibited from park property.
The county also asks that dogs be under voice control — i.e. come when called, and it states plainly that its dog parks are unsupervised. In our territory that means Pooch Pines at Okeeheelee Park on Forest Hill Boulevard and Lake Woof at John Prince Memorial Park on Lake Worth Road.
That is a public specification for a trained dog, and every program we run is built to meet it.
