Dog Training in Lantana

A small town with its own dog park, a beach dogs cannot use, and posted park rules that expect your dog to listen when you call.

A small town with a dog park that asks for manners

Lantana is a town of about 11,500 people (2020 census) on roughly three square miles, directly south of Lake Worth Beach. The town was incorporated in 1921 and still describes itself as an old Florida fishing village.

Lantana has its own town dog park. It sits in Maddock Park at 1200 W Drew Street, with one area for dogs of 30 pounds and up and one for dogs of 29 pounds and under. The posted rules ask for vaccinated, licensed dogs and say dogs must be under the voice command of their owners at all times. A dog that shows the first sign of aggression has to leave.

Voice command is the rule, not a bonus

That posted rule is the training goal in plain words. A dog park is the hardest place to hold a recall: other dogs, smells, play that turns rough. We build the recall, a reliable sit and down, and the ability to call a dog out of play before it escalates, so that a visit to Maddock Park ends when you decide, not when something goes wrong.

Leash rules elsewhere in town

Outside the dog park, the town code asks for a leash in all public places that are not posted off-limits, and it keeps pets out of other town recreation facilities. Pets are also not allowed on the public beach or in the swimming waters next to it. Palm Beach County requires a current rabies vaccine and county license tag for every dog four months and older, and the dog park rules ask to see that license.

Programs

For dog-park manners and recall, off-leash training starts at $1,000 for eight lessons. Owners who want the basics first can start with four private lessons at $650. The two-week board and train at $2,900 includes a two-hour handover session at the end.

Results vary by dog. Major behavioral issues such as dog or human aggression cannot be guaranteed to be eliminated — our programs give you control and a clear plan to manage them.

Lantana questions

Does Lantana have a dog park?

Yes. The town dog park is in Maddock Park at 1200 W Drew Street, with a large dog area for dogs of 30 pounds and up and a small dog area for dogs of 29 pounds and under.

What does under voice command mean at the Lantana dog park?

It means your dog comes when called and stops what it is doing when you ask, even around other dogs. The posted rules expect it, and a dog that shows aggression must be removed.

No. The town code keeps pets off the public beach and out of the swimming waters next to it, with exceptions for service and police dogs.
